Tracyanne & Danny is a new collaborative project between singer-songwriters Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) and Danny Coughlan (Crybaby). Tracyanne hails from Glasgow, Scotland. London-born Danny is based in Bristol, England. Their paths first crossed in 2013 when introduced by mutual music industry pals. Tracyanne dug Danny’s Crybaby album (released on Helium Records) and invited him to open some Camera Obscura shows in the UK.  Mutual artistic respect led to the swapping of song ideas, but tentative plans to work together were set aside while Camera Obscura wrote, recorded, released, and promoted their fifth album Desire Lines. Following the death of Camera Obscura’s Carey Lander, all band activity stopped. Time passed. Tracyanne and Danny revisited the idea of collaborating. A pool of songs were honed and crafted. On the suggestion of their manager (and Teenage Fanclub drummer) Francis Macdonald, they recorded at Clashnarrow, a studio in Helmsdale in the highlands of Scotland owned by the esteemed Edwyn Collins.

The Techniques & Winston Riley's Rock Steady & Early Reggae 1968-1969 - Winston Riley started his production career as a singer with an enviable track record, having formed the Techniques in 1962 and hitting the top of the charts two years later with the splendid 'Little Did You Know' for Duke Reid's esteemed Treasure Isle label. When the frantic ska beat slowed down and turned into rocksteady Winston remained the only permanent component of the Techniques, arguably Jamaica's finest vocal group. As the beat changed yet again from rock steady to the faster reggae format, Winston's thoughts turned to production, and he decided to create his own 'Techniques' label. A serious man with a serious work ethic, the quality of his music was apparent from the start as he released hit after hit, producing and singing as part of the different combinations of singers and vocal groups that he worked with.

The title of Horace Tapscott's debut release is apt, if not self-referential, for indeed a giant of West Coast jazz had awakened with this, the pianist/composer/bandleader's 1969 album for the Flying Dutchman label. Tapscott went on to form two groups crucial to the flowering of modern jazz in the Los Angeles area, the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (or P.A.P.A.; the name is an homage to Tapscott's predecessor and peer, Sun Ra), which eventually became part of a larger umbrella organization, Union of God's Musicians and Artists Ascension (UGMAA). Out of UGMAA came a host of LA-bred musicians, singers, and poets, including Arthur Blythe (who goes by Black Arthur Blythe on this recording), Stanley Crouch (who wrote the original liner notes), David Murray, Butch Morris, Wilber Morris, Jimmy Woods, Nate Morgan, and Sinclair Greenwell, Jr. (a.k.a. Guido Sinclair). And anchoring it all was Tapscott himself; as Kamasi Washington, whose vision of a large, Los Angeles community-based ensemble echoes that of P.A.P.A. and UGMAA, said in 2015: 'Horace is one of the most important figures in the foundation of music in L.A., from both a purely musically and socially conscious perspective.' Our first, neon green vinyl release of this momentous record sold out in a heartbeat; now, we're bringing it back in a black vinyl edition pressed at Gotta Groove Records, taken from high-resolution audio sources and complete with original gatefold artwork. A foundational document of West Coast modern jazz!

Although not a hit when originally released, Twain's subsequent successful albums gained her legions of fans, which generated more interest in Shania Twain causing it to be certified platinum in the US for shipments of one million copies. Issued on 120g vinyl for the first time ever.

Velvert Turner is largely known for being a protégé and student of Jimi Hendrix, who he met as a teenager in New York in the late ‘60s. The influence is immediately clear, with respect to both Turner’s guitar work and vocals. Some have even mistaken his only album for a "lost" Hendrix recording, and it’s hard to blame them. Velvert Turner Group’s self-titled 1972 release, which aptly closes with a tribute to Hendrix (a cover of “Freedom”), has been out of print for decades. Now it’s coming back to vinyl with a color pressing, mastered from original analog tapes, exclusively for RSD Black Friday.

For RSD Drops 2021, Tune-Yards’ 2011 breakthrough second album W H O K I L L will receive a limited edition pressing on multi-color splatter vinyl to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The album, W H O K I L L, marks a time when everything came together into one cohesive whole, recorded in a studio and influenced heavily by Merrill Garbus’ moving to Oakland, California. She and Nate Brenner made an album that delivered on her early promise. Lyrically, Garbus explores constructs of femininity and sexuality with the threat of violence that lurks on the streets where she now lives, while the energy of their show has been translated perfectly to record.

"While I'm Livin'" is an album of mostly original music written by Brandi Carlile, the twins and Tanya Tucker about her real life and the places she's seen. This album is a musical biography of sorts narrated by the greatest country and western singer this side of Johnny Cash. When the kids heard Cash stripped down on "American Recordings" they knew where their outlaw country music came from. When they hear Tanya stripped down on "While I'm Livin'", they'll know it again.

'Sun Racket' is the brand new album from legendary Boston trio Throwing Muses, consisting of Kristin Hersh, David Narcizo and Bernard Georges. Post-Apocalypto is the new album from acclaimed rock duo and basically everyone’s favorite band ever, Tenacious D -- comprised of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The album is the companion to the band’s visual project Post-Apocalypto – The Series, an original, six-part animated video series from the minds of Tenacious D. Each frame of every episode was hand-drawn by Jack himself, with every character voiced by Black and Gass. The series begins rolling out on September 28th, 2018, via Tenacious D’s YouTube page, with a new episode every Friday after.

True to the title, Post-Apocalypto – The Series finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb. Surviving the attack in class cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950’s refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast.  One thing becomes apparent -- for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world.

Ten years ago, the two acclaimed musicians Frank Turner and Jon Snodgrass hung out, drank whisky and wrote and recorded an album together called Buddies - a lighthearted hang between friends that became a hit with fans of both artists. Fast forward a decade and the pair are still buddies, so they decided to write a follow-up. As with the original, Buddies II: Still Buddies was written in just one day, although this time, however, Turner and Snodgrass had to do it over the Internet due to lockdown. With more time on their hands than usual, they were able to flesh out the album, musically, and recruit other buddies - Stephen Egerton (Descendents/ALL), primarily, on drums - for added instrumentation. The result is a funny, warm and at times poignant album that's part talk show, part music. It's the first album that Frank has recorded, mixed and produced himself.

Toth is a new project of Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist songwriter Alex Toth, known for collaborating and writing with Kimbra, Alexander F, Rubblebucket, Cuddle Magic and others. As Toth, he presents his most vulnerable songs and performances yet, often sung in a style reminiscent of Arthur Russell, while also adding trumpet and guitar.

TEKE::TEKE is a unique beast. Twenty years into their career, Tegan and Sara have recorded a new album that is based on the first songs they ever wrote. Hey, I’m Just Like You – their ninth studio album overall and first since 2016’s Love You to Death – will be released on September 27 on Sire.

Hey, I’m Just Like You is a return to Tegan and Sara’s rock and punk roots, with a punch of pop production. With his off-center charm and restless creative dazzle, he makes music with conviction that has its roots in rock’s murky past, armed with an arsenal of songs that spill over with humor, intelligence, irony, and at times prophecy.He updates the idea of androgyny but dispels the emotional and social ambiguity with lyrics that reflect his own geographic and artistic wanderings.

Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! is 11 songs. The man who began the album, is not the same man who completed it, transformed both by the experiences that inspired the songs and crafting them. This is not anxious music for anxious times, but rather music as an antidote for anxious times. It is the sound of the future arriving.

Written over a two-year period during a break from touring, the album's emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott's experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. Abbott's fearlessness to discuss personal topics is referenced in the album's title, an allusion to exiting Eden and leaving behind all the restrictive cultural norms engrained in the Biblical "paradise": tradition, purity, holiness, binary gender, heterosexuality, and the idea that anything is forbidden (especially for women).
