On July 30th, Saddle Creek will release a bold new project in the form of Culxr House:Freedom Summer, a collaborative project showcasing a host of talent from Omaha, Nebraska, all of whom are tied to Culxr House: an innovative community hub based in the city that focuses on providing artists and creatives a safe space to grow their talent and obtain access to resources necessary to turn their art into economic opportunities. Culxr House exists to bridge both social and economic gaps through the cultivation of talent and artistry within the inner city.
Culxr House also served as a nerve center for the protests carried out in Omaha beginning in the summer of 2020, aka, Freedom Summer. The Culxr House family helped to pull people together, inspiring the community to talk about what needed to happen in order to evoke both global and local change. The collective family that are showcased on the new album ~ and the songs they created ~ grew from both those meetings and the venue’s open mic nights. The finished album is proof of the magic that can grow from collaboration and from instigating the bonds of community when it’s most needed.
A wholly important release in its own right, the record is also a reflection of the strength found in Omaha’s culture and community. Available digitally and via a limited edition vinyl run, 50% of the album’s profits will be shared between the artists involved, with the other 50% donated directly to the Culxr House venue that brought this project to life.

The first solo album from Kenny Beats is a spontaneous burst of creativity spurred by an avalanche of despair and imagination. Only after sharing it with a few close friends – who mentioned the elegiac pathos it evoked – did Kenny become convinced to release it for public consumption. Just 17 songs and 33 minutes, LOUIE is a hypnotic odyssey of wounded, teardrop soul. LOUIE presents a side of Kenny, best known for producing seminal full-length albums for some of the world's most exciting artists (Vince Staples, IDLES, Rico Nasty, Freddie Gibbs, Dominic Fike, and many more) that has not been seen by the world before. Charismatic, self-effacing and generous, the album reveals the duality of the artist -an enigmatic, introspective searcher who has experienced pain and duress, and alchemized it via looped samples and hypnotic drum patterns. LOUIE gives testament to our most personal thoughts, recollections and stories. It is an intimate and personal gift that achieves the rarest condition -a sense of the universal.

First trained in his church choir, Blueprint played in R&B bands in high school and later developed a reputation as a standout rapper. On Adventures in Counter-Culture, he experiments with the synths, keyboards, and drum machines that connected the musical dots of those early days.
Print began pursuing his career as a musician in 2001, working on several hip hop projects including his collaborative project Soul Position with DJ/Producer RJD2. Releasing The Unlimited EP & 8,000,000 Stories on Rhymesayers Entertainment with RJ, Blueprint began work in 2004 on what would become his first solo album, 1988. The success of that album allowed him to tour extensively throughout North America and Europe, before returning home to focus on writing and recording his next album.
When he sat down to work on this sophomore effort, Print began with the dark, soulful and sample heavy hip hop of the early 90’s, but soon found himself hitting a creative wall. What shook him loose was a new mission: to create an album that encompassed every facet of music he knew, blurring genre lines and bringing it back home as one cohesive listening experience. The more he worked to pair new found interest in rock & electronic music with his love of hip hop, the more he was able to break down that creative barrier.
Thus began his Adventures in Counter-Culture, a monumental undertaking that would involve reinventing himself as a musician and person. His growing cynicism with the world, his disdain for pop culture, the state of politics, and an apathetic, uninspired society, all worked as fuel to inspire this sophomore album. Moved by the impact that sampling lawsuits were having on the music community, Blueprint also decided to return to his roots and began writing and producing his own original content.

BDP's first album--and the only one to include the late DJ Scott La Rock--sounded harder than hell when it came out in 1987. Though the simple beat-box patterns on a few tracks sound dated, most of La Rock's tracks are bluntly effective, especially the AC/DC riff he appropriates on "Dope Beat." And KRS-One still performs most of his Criminal Minded rhymes, because his audience knows them word for word: the ultraviolent dancehall of "9mm Goes Bang," the battle cry of "South Bronx" (and its counterpart, the anti-Juice Crew screed of "The Bridge Is Over," with its little Billy Joel homage), the catalog of La Rock's condom collection on "Super-Hoe." KRS bloomed later; here, he just rocked.
Pi’erre Bourne’s emerged as one of the pre-eminent rap producers of the late 2010s, scoring major hits with Playboi Carti and 6ix9ine, in addition to working with Kanye West, Travis Scott, 21 Savage and others. His third studio album, Good Movie, includes features with Don Toliver (“Psane”) and Young Nudy (“Moving Too Fast”). It also includes the tracks “Ex Factor,” “Where You Going,” and “DJ In The Car.” 2 LP set on purple vinyl.
West coast legend C-Bo has long been praised as one of the true icons of Gangsta Rap. His album Orca (Deluxe) perfectly shows off his iconic status, and has long remained a fan favorite. With features from other legends like MC Eight, Paul Wall, E-40 and more, we truly expect fans to be rabidly excited about this first vinyl press.
