Phish's first show at Worcester Centrum, a 14,800-capacity hockey arena, was their fifth annual New Year�s Eve show. The band added new sounds to their sonic palette that year and spent the fall recording their fifth studio album, Hoist, so they we armed with a fresh batch of sounds and material. The show was sold out. This box set captures Phish at a crossroads of their career in their biggest New year's Eve show at the time, perfoming 30 tunes over the course of 3-sets in Massachusettes.

It was winter in Manhattan. The streets were frozen and still the band rode bicycles to the Power Station on 53rd and back to Brooklyn for three weeks. Three weeks that would mark the birth of Double Infinity - the album that constitutes a grand departure for Big Thief. An ultramodern community of musicians gathered in the warm wooden room where Bruce once stood. They all tracked together � simultaneously � improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries.�

Laraaji created drones with zither and an iPad and sang intuitive vocal melodies. Joshua Crumbly played bass; Mikey Buishas made live tape loops and played keys; Mikel Patrick Avery, Jon Nellen, and Caleb Michel played percussion; Adam Brisbin played guitar; and Hannah Cohen, Alena Spanger and June McDoom sang background vocals. Along with core members Adrianne, Buck, and James, the group played for nine hours a day. Double Infinity is the archive of this play. It could only have been produced, engineered, and mixed by longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.�

�Double Infinity,� reaches into the idea of inner and outer worlds, and the body as the bridge. It speaks to the purgatory created by the human brain, always looking to the past or future, between the things we�ve lost and the things we want, between desire and regret. �Beauty speak to me, let me know you, let me see myself inside your mystery, through the crystal cage of aging.� It calls for true beauty to speak, not fabricated, conditioned ideas of beauty. At the bridge between �what is forming� and �what is fading�, between �losing and of gaining�, �mourning and celebrating�, perhaps there is solace in �the eye behind the essence, still, unmovable�, that which is �unchanging�, outside of time. Is it love?

In a cramped club on the lower east side of Manhattan, armed with only an electric guitar, Jeff Buckley stunned audiences with his mysterious, emotionally uncompromising live sets, packed with eclectic covers and his own originals. The four-track Live at Sin-e EP, released in 1993 was his debut release for Columbia Records; here it's expanded in a deluxe hard-shell slipcase housing four individually designed LP jackets and an eight-page, full color booklet of photos and liner notes. The set includes live versions of favorites like "Grace", "Last Goodbye" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah.�

Forever Howlong is Black Country, New Road�s first studio release since 2022's UK #3 album Ants From Up There, which gave the band their second Top 5 UK album in 12 months alongside their Mercury Prize shortlisted debut For the first time, and follows 2023's Live at Bush Hall, an album The Guardian claimed was a �magical resurgence� in a triumphant five-star review. Now, on studio album three, the band are once again building from the ground up in yet another miraculous musical transformation.

The long-awaited new record was produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Blur) and sees Black Country, New Road settled into a new shape in which vocal duties � and most of the song writing � is split between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw. �It created a real through line for the album, having three girls singing," says Ellery. "It's definitely very different to Ants From Up There, because of the female perspective - and the music we've made also compliments that."

If you could go back in time ten years, what would you want to tell yourself? This was a question Khruangbin posed to themselves when approaching the ten-year anniversary of their debut album, the once cult classic, now genre-defining work The Universe Smiles Upon You.

�If we could go back and tell ourselves how much was going to happen to us after that record, what would we want to celebrate?� asked Laura Lee, bassist, vocalist, and founding member of the band. Instead, they thought: �Let�s do it again.�

The Universe Smiles Upon You ii was recorded on January 4-6, 2025, in the same family barn of guitarist Mark Speer, across the same dates where TUSUY was first conceived ten years earlier. Though the conditions were the same�dirt floor, brutally cold, minimal sound isolation, all takes live�the songs aren�t. They�re re-approached, some changed more than others, harnessing the lightning-in-a-bottle energy of TUSUY while discovering what would be unique this time around, in this stage of the band�s life.

The result moves like ripples on the water across ten hypnotizing tracks, the barn creating a sense of spaciousness, serenity and creative freedom, nearby wildlife (listen out for the birds on �August Twelve ii�), rattles and creaks of the barn and all. After years of struggling with her own mental health that resulted in writer�s block, on-stage episodes, and tour cancellations, RKS singer/songwriter/frontperson Ela Melo was properly diagnosed and treated in 2023, vastly improving her quality of life. Clark has always had swagger and sex in his sound and very dangerous hands when wielding 6 strings. JPEG RAW is all of that and breaks new ground that is both thrilling and inspiring on every level.

"Recent years brought about for Julia Holter an existential focus on human connection, amid the staggering change that came with the death of loved ones (including her young nephew, to whom the album is dedicated) and the birth of her daughter. On Something in the Room She Moves, Holter vividly processes the complexity, gravity, and awe of this confluence of experience. She calls the music �sensual,� �flowing,� and �nocturnal�--a testament to how love, with all of its challenges, �reroutes neural pathways.� The cover art by Holter�s childhood friend, artist Christina Quarles, highlights the multiplicity of intimate connection: are the figures embracing or in battle?

The title Something in the Room She Moves came to Holter spontaneously as she was naming the Logic project file for an early demo. Coincidentally, a few months later, she found herself mesmerized by the eight-hour cin�ma-v�rit� Beatles documentary Get Back in 2021. Her titular phrase flips the gaze of the Beatles lyrics (�Something in the way she moves��); the woman is no longer passively observed, but actively augmenting space. Holter has loved the Beatles since childhood, but sees the title less as a tribute than as a semi-surreal bit of automatic writing from her subconscious.

After a string of dream pop albums that established her searching voice in independent music�from 2012 breakthrough Ekstasis to Loud City Song and Have You in My Wilderness�Holter released the thrillingly experimental Aviary in 2018. Since then, she has scored films like Never Rarely Sometimes Always, performed a commissioned live score for The Passion of Joan of Arc with the Chorus of Opera North, and collaborated with her partner, Tashi Wada, who plays on her new album. Something in the Room She Moves is a remarkable progression in Holter�s oeuvre, synthesizing her free, improvisatory energy with her signature eloquence."

Slaughter Beach, Dog�s new album Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling�finds Jacob Ewald hitting his songwriting stride.�A decade into steadily releasing records through Slaughter�Beach, Dog and Modern Baseball, Ewald spent hundreds of�hours over the past few years to listen purposefully, diving�deep into the worlds of Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Neil�Young and many other �classic guys� that he hadn�t spent�ample time with. Ewald also spent a similar amount of hours�meticulously assembling a band fit for these new songs, and�I am very happy to report that he found what he was looking�for.

On Before And After, Young chooses favorites from his playbook like a trip into his music history and performs them mostly alone on a solo acoustic journey. Each of the songs blend into each other and morph with mesmerizing clarity into a continuous flow of music creating a 48-minute pure and intimate listening experience. The 13-track album spans Neil�s career, from Neil�s early Buffalo Springfield contribution, "Burned" (1966) to the recent "Don't Forget Love"(2021) and includes the previously unreleased song �If You Got Love�.

You know a band has to be one of the most incredible live outfits in the country when they get signed immediately after a show in the time it takes to pop outside for a cigarette break. This is exactly what happened to Island of Love after they were invited to play The Blue Basement venue in Third Man Records - which opened in September 2021 in London as the third Third Man store after Nashville and Detroit. Island of Love were second only to Jack White himself to play the room and it was still so new that the drummer even left with paint on his back from where he�d been pressed up against the wall playing. With that on-the-spot offer, they became the first band signed to Third Man London.

The band are a unique proposition in many ways. The group's third studio release, Buhloone Mindstate released on September 21, 1993,�saw the group evolve into a new sound as they continued to grow stylistically and musically. The introspective "I Am I Be" showed de la Soul at their most self-referential to date. The album's first single, "Breakadawn", used a sample of Michael Jackson's "I Can't Help It" and Smokey Robinson's "Quiet Storm". de La Soul collaborated for the first time with Gang Starr's Guru on "Patti Dooke", and female MC Shortie No Mas who was prominent on many tracks on the album and showcased particularly on "In The Woods". The album ended with an old school Biz Markie collaboration called "Stone Age".

Golden State, the second full-length from singer/songwriter Logan Ledger, marks a stylistic departure from the timeless country noir of Ledger�s critically lauded debut. This time around, Ledger worked with producer Shooter Jennings, dreaming up a lush and spirited sound partly inspired by the California country-rock scene of the late-�60s and early-�70s.
