More Info:

For the Good Times Ruby Winters was born in Louisville in January 1942. She started singing in church at the age of 4, and started singing 'for real' when she was around 15 years old. Her first major record deal for Diamond Records came in 1966. She later paired with Johnny Thunder and had local success with a duet 'Make Love to Me, reaching number 13 on the Billboard r&b chart, and followed by another duet 'We Only Have One Life.' It was the release of 'I Will' in the UK in 1977 that made Ruby Winters an international star. The record became huge, spending 13 weeks on the chart and peaking at number 4.'Come to Me' followed, reaching number 11, then 'I Won't Mention it Again', reaching number 45 in 1978. This success caused US interest in Ruby's recordings, and 'I Will' was issued with 9 other tracks to make up her only US album. In the UK, there followed an almost identical album but also included a country style ballad 'Love Me Now'. Ruby recalls"I Will' was a blessing in the UK and the UK was a blessing to it. I know people who have gone there and reactivated their careers so many times, because there's more appreciation of the variations of music in the UK. I think they heard the clarity, something they could identify with, something they wanted to hear and it didn't have to be boom-boom all the time." Interview with Ruby Winters : c 'In The Basement' magazine (issue #50). Special thanks to David Cole. I Won't Mention it Again' appears on Mediaworld CD release 'Treat Me Right' MWORLD001320.
