Dorothy was born in Kenya; on the Eastern part of Africa. She was raised in a musical family and her life's journey has been characterized by singing in chorals, duets, trios and quartets in her earlier years. Dorothy was an active member of Calvary Singers, a high school campus music ministry. It wasn't until her teenage years that Dorothy renewed her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and began her walk of salvation. Since then, her primary focus in music has grown into Praise and Worship. She testifies that this change has completely transformed her love of music as a worship minister. Dorothy believes that worship predates music. She believes that music is a tool that enhances what worship already is. Consistent with this belief about the place of worship, it not only started becoming an important part of her life, but has been her lifestyle. Before relocating to the United States, Dorothy ministered as a worship leader at Lifespring Chapel, Nairobi under the pastorship of Pastor Steve Maina and his wife Mary Maina. She is also a former member of SIFA VOICES-KENYA, an ensemble of music ministers in Kenya and Word of Truth Ministries under the direction of Reuben Kigame. During her tenure with SIFA VOICES, Dorothy was involved in the recording of various gospel albums. Today, Dorothy is one of the vocalists in SIFA USA, an amalgamation of music ministers, and also serves as the ministry's Events Coordinator. Additionally, Dorothy serves in the Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA) Baltimore worship team and also ministers with Teresia Wairimu Evangelistic Ministries (TWEM). Her music... Dorothy always says she was born to sing praises to her King. From her childhood to the present, she has always been surrounded by music and developed songwriting as an integral part of her life and ministry. In the year 2008, Dorothy finally compiled some of the songs she had been writing resulting to her debut album "I am Blessed". This album is a testament of the countless blessings she has received before and after her journey of salvation began. Dorothy considers this album an extension of the lifestyle she leads as a worship minister. Over the course of her life she has been inspired by the worship ministries of Vicki Yohe, Nicole C. Mullen, Bebo Norman, Lenny Leblanc, Crystal Lewis, Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Don Moen and her sister and partner in ministry Dr. Lilian Odera.
